    "Dreamcast Paranoia" - Our port of the Half-Life ( GoldSrc Engine ) total-conversion Paranoia to the Sega Dreamcast

    You will play the role of a russian officer of the secret service. There will be many missions, each with specific
    objectives for the players to accomplish, such as defending a restricted military area, eliminating a terrorist threat and
    protecting innocent workers. Your first impressions are that this mission will be just like any other, but you really have
    no idea what nightmares future events have in store for you...

    After years in development, we are proud to present the last release of Dreamcast Paranoia.

    A save system is implemented on the first two campaigns. ONLY when you reach a checkpoint,
    you will recieve a message "Checkpoint reached. Save your game now!"
    Saves only work at the specific checkpoints, okay?!

    This game, no dobt, pushes the Dreamcast to its max, and we beleive incredible things have
    been achieved. I hope you all enjoy the results.

    Hopefully not too long from now, but it is impossible to set an exact date as we do this in our free time, and we are currently quite busy with life!

    I would like to shoot for a first-quarter 2009 final release, if all goes well.

    For now, just check out this beta 1 release!

    Great work! I even remember these places in this videos, from PC version, looks cool . It would be nice to play it on DC. Thanks!

    I have some great news!
    A member from the Paranoia Developers Team contacted me after seeing the video I posted on YouTube, and they are impressed with Paranoia Dreamcast!

    In fact, I am in contact with Mikhail Kadikov, Paranoia Team Leader, and he is willing to help us! He is contacting his programmers to see if it is possible to port the custom .dlls to WinCE SH-4 ( Dreamcast ) architecture!

    Porting these custom dlls was my original vision for this project, what I have done so far basically is converting the maps to work without the .dlls, and some things will not be possible this way. So lets hope that Paranoia Development Team is able to port these .dlls to WinCE, and then we can create an exact port for Dreamcast!

    If they help you out that would be awesome !
    What about hacking of the engine (if it need (to increase map`s size etc)) like guys from dcevolution hacked quake1 DC engine ?
    Also, bgm should be working on all maps.
    Original bgm ? And will speech be Russian ?

    OMG no!, please let it be english (otherwise a lot of people can't play it)

    Update, I just received message from Paranoia Dev Team leader Mikhail:
    Hello!

    Bad news. Our coder had a look to the (Dreamcast) SDK and said, that it is impossible to port our mod without sources of hl.dll and client.dll (dreamcast's version).
    Sorry about that!
    So, my original vision is not possible:-(

    Regardless, we will continue work as seen in the initial beta release. Also, the Paranoia Dev Team may still be able to assist us in other areas of this project.

    Василий - I have made optimizations beyond the original DCHL in a file game.cfg not present on DCHL that increases FPS around 4fps ( not yet utilized on Paranoia DC beta but is utilized on CSDC ). The maps allready use all of Dreamcast RAM, there is nothing else to 'hack' as seen in quake 1 DC.

    And, when we get the speech working, well the mod has no english voice acting so yes they will be in russian, but we will need to find a way to get the subtitle text in english without the use of the Paranoia subtitle system...

    i know it becames kind of silly but you guys can do the subtitles using "game_text" on valve hammer editor and coordinating them whit voice messages, i'm thinking of using them on BR...

    We can use env_message too, it can show a text message with a sound message together !

    So, Is ParanoiaDC not going to be ported to Dreamcast, Cuz there isn't any source code avaivable?
